Every September, the streets of Tenby come alive with the roar of support, the whirl of bike wheels, and the pounding of running shoes as Ironman Wales takes over this beautiful seaside town. It's more than just a race, it's a festival of endurance, community spirit, and Welsh pride. If you're competing, spectating, or supporting friends and family, Clarence House Hotel and our self-catering Carnock apartments offer the perfect base for Ironman weekend.

What is Ironman Wales?

Ironman Wales is one of the most iconic races in the global Ironman calendar, known for its breathtaking views and challenging terrain. It includes:

  • 2.4-mile (3.8 km) swim in the stunning waters of Tenby's North Beach

  • 112-mile (180 km) bike ride through the scenic yet hilly Pembrokeshire countryside

  • 26.2-mile (42.2 km) marathon run through Tenby's vibrant streets

Athletes take on a full-distance triathlon, pushing their limits across land and sea, cheered on by thousands of spectators lining the course.

Right on the Action: Your Ideal Location

Clarence House Hotel sits proudly on The Esplanade, overlooking South Beach, and in 2024 it was positioned right on the finish line of Ironman Wales. We're proud to say that the 2025 finish line will be right outside our doors once again. There’s no better place to stay if you want to be in the heart of the action. You’ll be able to cheer on competitors from the doorstep or soak in the atmosphere with a drink in hand at our outdoor Clifftop Bar.

Our Carnock self-catering apartments are just around the corner – ideal for those looking for a more private or extended stay, while still being only minutes from the event.

Parking in Tenby for Ironman Weekend

Tenby gets very busy during Ironman, so parking can be a challenge – but we’ve got you covered. We recommend the following public car parks, all within walking distance:

  • Multi-Storey Car Park (Upper Park Road): Covered parking, 5–7 mins walk

  • Five Arches Car Park: Town centre location, approx. 4 mins walk

  • Seafront Car Park (adjacent to The Esplanade): Closest to Clarence House – limited spaces, arrive early

We suggest arriving early on race weekend and securing your spot. From any of these locations, you'll have quick access to the hotel and race routes.
